RegioExpress Bern > Emmental > Entlebuch > Lucerne

Route: Bern > Konolfingen > Langnau > Schüpfheim > Wolhusen > Lucerne

The route from Bern to Lucerne via the Emmental and the Entlebuch regions are considered an insider’s tip among the scenic routes of Switzerland. The Emmental still has an unspoilt nature with its typical farmhouses with their low-lying roofs set against the gently undulating hills. The milk which is made into the famous Emmentaler Cheese with its characteristic big holes, comes from the cows grazing the lush meadows here. As you continue deeper into the Entlebuch, you traverse Switzerland’s first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. The fascinating fens are best known for their large diversity of fauna and flora. Getting off on the way is a good idea: in Schüpfheim, you can change to a yellow Postbus of the «Sörenberg-Linie» which will bring you through the Lamm Gorge to Sörenberg, continue on the Panorama Road to Giswil where you can join up a train of the Zentralbahn going either towards Lucerne or Interlaken.

In addition, Kambly`s Biscuit Train will take you directly from Berne and Lucerne to the Kambly Experience in Trubschachen.

The BLS RegioExpress linking Bern to Lucerne via Emmental and Entlebuch runs on an hourly basis in both directions. Travel time approx. 1 1/2 hours. No seat reservations possible.
