Travelling with regular-interval timetables.
Trains in Switzerland usually follow regular-interval timetables. This means that they always leave at the same minute after each hour. In the main centres, all trains arrive on the full or half hour. You then change trains before departing again a few minutes later. The most important city connections run at regular half-hourly intervals, and the other long-distance and regional trains at regular hourly intervals. The most important S-Bahn lines around the centres are serviced at half and quarter-hourly intervals. Postbus and boat connections are coordinated with the regular-interval train timetables and with each other.
